Speeding in the village Speeding on the streets of the village has been an issue and a hot topic for years. Numerous councils have talked about how to address the issue of speeding and I have lost count as to how many posts I have seen in the Facebook page, Residents of The Village New Maryland about speeding on streets and the New Maryland Highway. I have personally seen residents (young and mature) attempting to cross the highway and drivers not stopping when the crossing lights are flashing. I have experienced personally attempting to cross the New Maryland Highway at Crown seeing drivers actually speed up when the cross lights begin to flash. Councils current and pass have decided the main solution to the speeding and safety of residents is to get out once a year stand at the end of subdivisions with signs reminding people to slow down.
